Keep calm and comply with GDPR
But… What is the GDPR?
The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is a regulation intended to strengthen the protection of personal data for the European Union (EU) citizens.
Why is it important?
To give you (as a citizen) back control of your personal data and impose stricter data privacy and security.
Why is This happening?
In recent years cybercrime has increased and the trends seems to indicate that it will continue to rise. For these reasons, the European Union decided to create new rules to protect consumers from this cyber-attacks era.
Who needs to be in Compliance with GDPR?
All organizations that are in contact with citizens living in the EU. Any company that record, analyse or share personal information of EU citizens must comply with the new rules defined in the GDPR.
What does this mean for consumers?
These days few people know what kind of information companies keep about themselves.
With the implementation of these new rules everyone has the right to have access to their personal data and to know by whom it is being used.
What if I know that my data is being used incorrectly?
You have the right to complain to the responsible entity in your country. In Portugal it is the CNPD. Know more at https://eugdpr.org/.
