The Explorer

Raised in Madrid, 26 years old Irene P. Tello has already lived in Vienna and Berlin before landed in Porto to join the Master in Multimedia at FEUP. Born under the influence of Waxing Half Moon, she is deeply connected to the world of visual arts.

Background

In your journey, Irene crossed the fields of design, marketing and many others. Our multimedia consultant started as a freelancer and never stopped: she has founded a studio that supports visual artists and now she is the art director of a clothing label called VUÓU.

At 18yo Irene studied marketing communication at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, then joined the renowned Instituto Europeo di Design and later University of Arts Bremen. Surprised? Irene also published three artbooks and had works presented in different venues along Europe and America.

Aboard Starlight Software

With such artistic repertoire, Irene was seconded to the Mission Creativity, where she conceived the design of the FIXE application and keep improving the UX to the Project.

Irene highlights a technique used to contribute with the company: “I like to set different approaches from the aesthetics side and recreate it with uncertain factors - not just purely from functionality but producing a certain thrill - or an unexpected side effect that can easily engage us with an image, object or even a space.”

To the future

Irene does not limit her challenges and wants to keep growing “I would like to keep working in digital products for tech companies and learn new ways to do.” Asked what she wants to be in the future, Irene has no doubts “An Art Director - just because I like Art and to lead”.

She revealed to be very thrilled to share her thoughts and experience with all of us and asked to deliver a special message:

“Know yourself and be focused. Do not lose time and be tight in your objectives. It’s is not easy when you are young to really know what you are destined to be or to offer to the society. Emotions play an important role in the workspace. To know if this is something convenient for you or was just a wrong decision: look at yourself.”
