Vasco Alves is from Porto and another of our business associates. He has a background in management by U.Porto’s Faculdade de Economia, and he is currently at FEUP to further his studies in the area.

Background

Vasco is a dancing manager. We mean: he was a classical dancer for a decade and a half, having completed the famed Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (Vocational Graded in Dance) exams. At FEP, he studied management and now he is helping Starlight Software with his vision and management skills for the Business Department.

So… Yeah, a little bit of both make Vasco the perfect asset for our crew.

Vasco’s journey with us is all about past and future. “As a former dancer, I reckon every effort will be compensated somewhere in time”, he says. This is one of the things that make his vision of the business environment so unique (and here at Starlight we’re all about uniqueness).

But, ballet isn’t just sweet moves and moving tunes — it can also teach a thing or two about the business world: “unlike what many people think, ballet isn’t just an individual activity. It demands both personal development efforts, but also a lot of teamwork and cooperation so that the end result, such as a performance, can be as shiny as possible”.

To the future

Vasco still doesn’t know what he wants to do after this. Right now, he is thinking about his next international experience (he is going away for his studies early next year). Who knows what the future has reserved for him?
